Birthday party planning is what I think about every year and a half. Soon after my son turned three, I immediately started planning for his fourth birthday party. At the time that I started planning, he was really into dinosaurs and superheroes. So, just like most people I launched the Pinterest app and began searching the two themes for inspiration.
I so badly tried to convince him to do a superhero-themed birthday party because I thought it would be so cute to dress up in superhero costumes. After showing my son some of the ideas that I found he was so excited to pick a dinosaur cake.
Fourth Birthday Theme: Dinosaur
By the time Christmas passed, I asked him one last time if he still wanted a dinosaur birthday party. Of course, he said YES! At that moment, it was time to plan and purchase things to make his Dinosaur birthday party to life!
In today’s blog, I am going to share photos and everything that I purchased along with links to how I created his dinosaur theme birthday party.
I would have to say that one of my favorite purchases during planning would have to be the customized name sign that I purchased through Etsy.
- Dino Dirt Cups (10 Servings)
I created the easiest snack for the birthday party. Dino Dirt cups.
What’s Needed:
- Chocolate River Stones
- Oreos
- Chocolate Pudding
- Small Cups
- Dino Cupcake Toppers and Wrappers
- Cool Whip (Purchased at the local grocery store)
Step 1 – You can use instant pudding or take the easy way out as I did and use Snack Pack Pudding cups. Start off with 8 cups of pudding (I purchased the pack that included both milk chocolate and fudge and milk chocolate swirl) and put it into a large bowl.
Step 2 – Add about 2 cups of cool whip to the pudding bowl. Mix together until it is blended perfectly. Add more cool whip as needed.
Step 3 – Time to crush the Oreos! I used a food processor to crush the Oreos, but you can use a Ziploc bag and a rolling pin to crush the Oreos. I started off with two rows of the Oreo pack. Set the Oreos aside in a separate bowl.
Step 4 – Grab the Dino Wrappers and place them around the cups
Step 5 – Grab an ice cream scoop or large spoon and begin scooping the pudding mixture into the dessert cups.
Step 6 – Sprinkle the Oreo crumbs on top
Step 7 – Add a couple of Chocolate River Stones
Step 8 – Add a Dino topper!
TIP: Keep refrigerated until it is party time! I used a portable cupcake carrier to store the Dirt Cups in the refrigerator.
Hang vines on the window to add to the effect.
